2008 Devotionals

Members of our congregation were asked to write some devotionals to make up a collection and to be read during services in November. Below is a sample of one of those deveotionals. View entire devotional booklet as a PDF.

Thank You for My Life

Dear God, thank you for my life on this earth, however challenging or not.

Thank you for giving me free will to love and be loved, to make my own decisions, to learn from my mistakes, to laugh when I am happy, to cry when I am sad.

Thank you for my family, my pets, and for every other living creature I meet along my journey.

Thank you for giving me the strength to overcome adversity, to do what’s right for the benefit of others, and to rise above negativity.

Thank you for giving me hope for an end to world suffering, pain and war for a better world filled with light and everlasting love.

OLDER ADULT MINISTRIES

REV. ERNIE FRITSCHLE, PASTOR

Dr Bob Jones Sr. was heard to say; “I am only one man, but I am one man.  I can’t do everything, but I can do something.  What I can do I will do.”

As we age what we can do changes.  However, there are still things that we can do.  Older Adult Ministries seeks to find things that we can do.  That is why we have special classes that cover various issues pertinent to our living now.  They include;

  1. Health issues.
  2. We conduct various classes on the relationship between our mind and body.
  3. Classes on nutrition and the importance of exercise.
  4. What the Bible has to teach us about health.
  5. Emphasis on living better, living longer.
  6. Giving an opportunity to share your concerns with someone near your own age.

Classes are usually from four to six weeks in length.  They are open to everyone.

We conduct a Saturday evening (4:00 p.m.) worship service that is forty-five minutes.  This is a time for sharing and discussion of personal issues.  It is a time for asking questions that you didn’t know who to ask.  The services are help in the Chapel.

We participate in the weekly service at Devon Gables.

Coming in the future will be some health support groups.  There will be some outings and sharing of meals at one of our fine eating places.
